Cyrus, Darius and the Persian Empire
In a fully formed paragraph, answer the following questions: How did Cyrus and Darius manage to establish the largest empire ever yet seen (Persian Empire 500sBC) and still retain control and organization. Reference your notes from your reading over the weekend to answer this question.

They took over many countries to get power.They had so much land to retain control because if somebody took part of their land they had so much more land that it did not even matter.They made 20 provinces so they had powerful land. They also had 10,000 trained soldiers so the army made them both powerful.

DeleteThey got a lot of land because they had a very powerful army and wanted more and more land so that they were even more powerful. When they took over different countries to make themselves a more powerful as a country they did it with a plan not just going and killing everyone one by one. Persia's leaders were very bold and powerful. But Persia really wanted a bigger empire because it made them more powerful. But when you have a big empire like that you need to be fair to their people so that people don't leave (but in some countries you can't leave).

DeleteThe Persian Empire was a big area ruled under a single government. Darius and Cyrus helped to build the Persian empire and hold it together. Darius divided the empire into provinces called satrapies. They helped to organize the Persian empire.
ReplyDeletePersia built an empire and Cyrus helped hold the growing empire together. Cyrus united the Persian people into powerful people. Persia lives is southwestern Iran, herds cattle, built miles of roads, headed recruiter for the army. The government paid people to be full time soldiers. Persia's religion is Zoroastrianism. People in Persia were worriors.

Cyrus helped build the Persian Empire. It was in Southwestern Iran. The Persian religen was called Zoroastrianism. The government had troops called immortals. They were called immortals because when ever a member died they were replaced right away.
ReplyDeleteDarius reorganized the government to make it easier because a bigger government is harder to manage. Cyrus the Great United the Persians into a powerful kingdom. Cyrus's armies swept into Mesopotamia, and captured Babylon.
ReplyDeleteCyrus and Darius managed to make the biggest empire because Cyrus sent armies in to Mespotamia, Asia minor, Syria, Canaan And the Phoenician cities. Cyrus treated the Greeks well. Cyrus let out all the captive jews to go home. Darius made the government easier. Darius divided the empire in to twenty provinces. Both of leaders made the empire better
ReplyDeleteAt first Cyrus made Persia into a powerful kingdom. Then he sent a bunch of his soldiers to conquer Greek city states and other contries. As the empire got bigger it got very difficult to mange, but then when Darius took over he made thing easier. First he divided the empire into 20 satrapies each was ruled by a satrap.
