The difference is that myths are story’s for the time that we didn’t know what happened.

  29. 11.01.11 The Goddess of Vermont Topic:How does it rain?

One Winter day, the goddess of Vermont was caring for her kids as she was constructing a mountain when she heard a scream of one of her four kids by one of her streams.
Her son, Winter, got carried away by a blizzard that had just come.
“Help Mom, help!” Before the goddess could reach Winter, he swept away in the shrieking wind and vanished.
“Oh no!” said the goddess. She started crying and walked back to her kids Spring and Summer and Fall. She told them the news and they were all very sad.
One Spring day, the goddess of Vermont was taking a walk with her husband and kids, still sad about Winter. Spring,Summer, and Fall trailed off and were playing in the trees. Spring, the youngest child, saw a few bunnies and deer and was eager to get a closer look. Summer and Fall were having to much fun to pay attention to Spring. Spring walked so far away that she got lost. The goddess and her husband just realized that Spring was gone and became very worried. “Spring, where are you?” Screamed the goddess and husband in unison. Nobody answered. “How could this have happened!” said the goddess. “Winter went missing and now Spring!” They were all sad and shocked.
One Summer day, the goddess of Vermont,Summer, and Fall were all still sad about Winter and Spring. They were running around at their home when the goddess heard footsteps outside the house. She ran out to find Summer running away!
“Why would she do that?” said the goddess of Vermont heavily breathing from running so hard. She could not catch up to her daughter and had lost her. She confronted her last child, Fall, and his face turned as pale as snow.
“I am so scared mama!” He exclaimed. “You see, since you named my brother and sisters after the seasons, I am next!”said Fall the son. “ First it was Winter, then it was Spring, then it was Summer, then it will be me!”
The goddess of Vermont started crying so hard that she flooded the house. Then she flooded the whole neighborhood! And to this day on, she still takes dearly care of her son, Fall.

Moral: Whenever the goddess of Vermont cries, it rains.
