Modern Military Trojan Horses

JOURNAL TO BLOG:  Modern Military Trojan Horses.  Do you think our own military forces have ever done anything like the Trojan Horse to "trick" the other side? See if you can find the answer using all the resources at your disposal (your mind, the internet, the library, your parents, etc).  Then post to our blog a clear SUMMARY paragraph (5-7 sentences) of what you find.  Use synonyms of the word "trickery" or "trick" to help in your search.

  1. One story I learned from a book called Smithsonian Children’s Encyclopedia of American History told about the Boston Tea Party which was like the Trojan Horse because they dressed up in disguise: ‘’In Boston, Sons of Liberty, dressed as Mohawk warriors, dumped 342 chests of tea into Boston harbor. The British acted to punish the colonists for this ‘’Boston Tea Party’’,so the Patriots responded by calling a Continental Congress, resorting to armed resistance, and finally creating a Continental Army’’. Although the United states was not a country yet, the people in Boston used a disguise to fight the enemy.

  3. Our military uses camouflage to disguise themselves and other things. The uniforms are designed to look like trees. Another example of camouflage, was during the Civil War our soldiers partly burned tree trunks to make them look like they were barrels that held their weapons. They did this to make it look like they had more weapons than they really did.

  4. The USA got Osama bin ladin off a random appearence. He was hiding in a house with no internet. When they made planes crash into the twin towers USA knew they had to do something about that and find who set that plan up. They did and now we lost one of the worst people in the world which is great for other countries from getting hurt.

  5. I chose how the white people gave the indians blankets with a infection called smallpox. It happened in 1763. It was in fort pit (Pennsylvania). White people wanted to get rid of the Indians and it worked. The white people actually got rid of the Indians and they were very proud. I don't think it was very nice of them to give the Indians blankets with the infection smallpox. The people didn't keep track of how many Indians there were, so nobody knows how many Indians died but we do know that many Indians died of smallpox.

  6. Operation Entebbe happened on 7/4/1976. It was a hostage rescue mission carried out at night to save 248 hostages in Uganda. The special Forces snuck in at night fall to release the hostages. It is considered one of the greatest most daring special forces operation. My mom was in Kenya the night of the operation and and heard the jets flying over on there way to the operation when she was thirteen

  8. I read on the internet about a deception plan used by the U.S. military in WW II called "Operation Fortitude". In this plan the U.S. army tried to deceive the Germans by pretending they were going to attack from one location when in fact they were going to attack from another location. They created inflatable dummy tanks and fake field armys to make the Germans think that they were ready to attack. The fake dummies are similar to the trojan horse.

  9. Has America tricked another country in the military?
I think us Americans have great plans of attack, and trickery Every bomb is guided. Our army isn't big but were smart. In every war America has pulled a sneaky cheap bomb. Throughout time they have tricked the Indians and won wars. How does it compare to the Trojan horse though. Well it sure cases kayos. It's sneaky, it's quick, and it has ended wars between foes, and destruction.

  10. In 1943, during WWII, a dead man washed up onto shore with a brief case. Inside the brief case was a letter saying that the Allies ( England, US, China, France etc.) were planning to attack the Axis ( Germany, Italy, Japan, etc.) in Nazi Europe. Hitler then sent all his troops out of Sicily to Nazi Europe. The Allies then walked freely into Sicily because there were no Axis troops in Sicily. I think that was a great plan.

  11. The Invasion of Normandy began on June 6 1944 when the U.S. army invaded beaches that the Nazis took over. Overnight there were air attacks, parachute and glider landings and also bombings. Thy landed on five beaches that were codenamed Juno, Gold, Omaha, Utah, and Sword. Our allies could’nt get over as well because of the English channel and the Atlantic wall. The Atlantic wall was ordered by Hitler. He put barbed wire in the ocean so the tanks could’nt get through. The Normandy landings were the most successful landings over the English channel in over eight centuries. German commanders failed to react to the invasion intime so we won the Invasion of Normandy.

  12. The military can hack into computers to find information. They also have spy planes with no engines in them so they are undetectable by radar.

  13. In World War II the Allies made inflatable tanks and wooden air crafts to “trick” the German forces. They made it look like they were keeping all of their weapons in Kent and also told the German spies about it. They even threw down large pieces of silver foil in the water to make it look like they were going to land there. Meanwhile the US was assembling troops for the Normandy invasion. When the Allies attacked Normandy the Germans thought that it was a hoax and sent their troops to Kent where all the “fake” troops were assembled. As a resualt of this trickery the Allies took over Normandy.

  15. In the last year of World War II the Americans and the British had a plan to attack Germany. They gave out false information to spies and they had fake planes and ships made out if rubber and ply wood to make it seem like they were going to invade at Pas de Calais instead of at Normandy where the real invasion would happen. The Germans sent most of their military to Pas de Calais instead of Normandy.

  16. Nuclear bombs are today's Trojan Horse. Americans are led to believe that Nuclear Bombs keep us safe because they pose a threat to other countries. But as they pose a threat to other countries they are a guarantee to destroy our world.

  17. Earlier this year our US military killed Osama Bin Laden. It took ten years for our military to kill him. They found him in a mansion that had eight teen foot high concrete walls topped with barbwire that they have been watching for years by watching from planes. they tracked him down by following a courier that has been delivering to him. The military came in the middle of the by helicopters they raided the compound and killed him and including four other people.
