We are about to begin studying Sparta and Athens and the origins of modern government. In your own words, give a one sentence definition of the word "government." Then, answer this question: Do we need "government?" Why or why not? The government are people who make laws and protect the people of America. I think that if we had no government we would be an unruly country

ReplyDeleteThe government is made up of people who run the USA. We need government but we also don’t. We need government to protect us and keep us safe. But sometimes the government, in this case the Federal Reserve, is harmful. The reason that the Federal Reserve is harmful, is because they put a lot dollars into the system. Most people would think this is good. But it is not. Putting more dollars into the system mean prices go higher. And that is bad.
ReplyDeleteI think it is good to have government because it is good to have laws. If there were no laws, things would be going wrong, like criminals would be stealing things, and they would not be going to jail.
ReplyDeleteGovernment are the people who make decisions for our laws and rights. They make some very big decisions and some are very small. One that pops in my head is the Vermont governor made a law that there can't be any billboards on the side of the street. Or there can't be any restraint sighs up to high either. When the government made this decision all the stores and restraints sighs had to be moved down to a certain hight. Government is important because Vermont or any other state would be as safe and beautiful like it is today.

I also think that we need a government because we need someone to do court and discuss what that person did wrong and if we should send that person to jail or just let him not go to jail. we wouldn't be free if we didn't have a government to state laws. That's why I think we need a government.

I also think that we need government because if we did not have we would not have a safe place to live and our government stands up for our country to make sure nothing happens like 9-11 again. The government is a really good part of america even though sometimes be unfair we still have respect for it

Government: I think a goverment is a group of people that work together and inforse the laws. I think we need the government to keep our country in order. I also think that the government is important because the government keeps us safe. For example, after the 9-11 attacks the government has tried to make the US as safe as possible because they care about US citizens.

If we didn’t have a government we wouldn’t have any rules and then we wouldn’t have a safe community. Also we wouldn’t be able to take control something bad happened to the U.S.

I think government is a group of people who are trying to make our country better, but sometimes they make BIG mistakes. I think we need government and we don't. The reason I think we don't need it is because a lot of the people that get elected are just people that think of our country and not all the countries like Iraq who need help unifying their country. The other reason I think that we need government is because we would have people going around killing people. What if Abraham Lincoln didn't come around and get to be president, what would our country be like then? I always wonder about that. We would be like North and South Korea. It would be a bad thing. I am happy that we have freedom and rights. But I always wonder why our solders are in Afghanistan and Iraq. But that's my opinion on the government in America.

I also liked theirs because Ava said what is good about the government and what is bad about the government. I liked Elisabeth's because she said that the government said that there couldn't be any big billboards and that people had to have smaller ones. I like Kristina's because she described that the government is trying to keep the USA safe. She also said that the government is making safe rules.

What is government? Government is the branches of people that run our economy, justice, businesses and our army.
ReplyDeleteWhy do we need government? What does government do? Well, it’s clearly important. Would we have a country without government? No. Government helps with roads, the army, protection, houses, land, and everything else from crime to currency. We would not be thriving, or powerful without government. We wouldn't be able to change problems, tech, or justice. As US citizens, we thrive on justice, democracy, and education so government does everything for us.
People who set laws and offer protection. We need government for the protection of our citizens.

ReplyDeleteWilliam, Does the government really decide everything that we do. Government is just representatives that tak our ideas. If a party chooses to follow and care for the middle class we can choose what we want them to do. They can decide with laws but we can protest. Does the government really do everything for us. As being in a democracy we can vote what we want?
